This weekend the team here at Balancing Monkey Games kicks off a season of talks, panels and participation at brilliant games events, both online and in person.

In July our Creative Director Sam joins Lise Hagen Lie from Megapop and Josh Bishop from Brightrock Games on a panel for Tacticon on Terraforming, pollution, and decay: when the environment fights back. TactiCon is a digital convention hosted on Steam which celebrates strategy video games, co-hosted by indie publishers Firesquid and Hooded Horse, from July 17 to 21.

In August, Balancing Monkey Games will be GamesCom in Cologne from August 20 to 24, as Company Directors Sam and Anna Barham will be exhibiting in the B2B area and showing off brand-new (and exclusive!) later game content to the press. This trip is generously supported with a travel grant from CODE, the New Zealand Centre of Digital Excellence, a Dunedin-based hub designed to support a sustainable and equitable expansion of New Zealand's video game development industry.

Come September, attendees at NZGDC wiill be able to meet lots of the Balancing Monkey Games team, as well as hear some of us give talks. We kick things off on Friday 26 September with a talk on 5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Becoming a Game Producer from our Producer Sarah. Later that day Sam and Anna will speak on Dealing Well With Difficult Feedback. On Saturday 27 September, Writer Laura will speak on the subject of knowing when to pivot or keep a game narrative in her talk Stick or Twist? Our Lead Artist Tom and our Senior Technical Artist/Programmer Isaac will also be in attendance, and we are all looking forward to celebrating the New Zealand Game Developers Conference theme ‘The People at the Heart of Games.’

October sees Balancing Monkey Games head 'over the ditch' to Australia, as our Game Designer Mereana and QA Analyst Nina attend GCAP in Melbourne, Australia's premier games development industry event and one of the first official events for Melbourne International Games Week.

If you’re going to be in attendance at any of these amazing events, be sure to reach out and connect with us in person!

As well as going to conferences, we are (of course!) working hard on Beyond These Stars, and will share more updates on the game soon.
