"What do you need? How can we make this work for you?"

For the second in our new series of 'Character Profiles' on the team here at Balancing Monkey Games, we shine a spotlight on Managing Director Anna!

Name: Anna Barham

Designation: Managing Director

Level: Virtuoso

Origin Story: Anna’s decade-long quest as a Manager began when she ran a Medical Centre through times of both peace and pandemic. When her husband Sam required someone to take on the mantle of Managing Director at Balancing Monkey Games in 2020, Anna was the best person to pick up the mantle. As a wielder of a scroll of Psychology (MSc), also experienced in administration, governance and parenting (which some say is the hardest role of all), she brings her skills in multi-tasking, her passion for helping others and her desire to learn to her job at Balancing Monkey Games.

Current Quest: Holding the team together through the stresses of late-stage production.

Special Abilities: Understanding where people are coming from, what kind of people they are, what they’re dealing with, and helping them find positive solutions to problems. (Also she’s pretty good with Xero and loves making slideshows in Powerpoint.)

Weaknesses: A terrible sense of direction which leads to getting lost easily when travelling (including inside a hotel).

Hidden Skill: Anna is a first soprano and soloist in the Dunedin city choir.

Nemesis: Budgeting spreadsheets for different grants or surveys that all have the expenses broken down differently from each other and from how she tracks them in Xero.

Inventory Items: Water bottle, papaya lip balm, sugar free chewing gum, the company credit card.

Magical Companion: Freda the monkey, crocheted by her mother

Battle Cry: “What do you need? How can we make this work for you?”
